How does the email verification code work?

Account and sign-in

When you sign in, SadaqaNow sends a six-digit code to your email address after you've entered your password. This confirms that it really is you signing in. Someone who only knows your password can't get into your account without access to your inbox. When you sign up, you also confirm your address with a code like this.

The key rules

QuestionWhen signing inWhen signing up
Email subject“Verifizierungscode für Login” (verification code for sign-in)“Bestätigen Sie Ihre E-Mail-Adresse” (confirm your email address)
Valid for10 minutes60 minutes
Getting a new codeResend code, at most three times an hourResend, at most three times an hour
  • Only the most recently sent code is valid.
  • Each code works only once.
  • After a code has been sent, Resend code stays locked for 60 seconds. The button shows how much longer.

Too many attempts

After five incorrect entries, “That was too many attempts with this code.” appears. You can then sign in again after 15 minutes at the latest.

When no code is needed

  • With Remember this device for 30 days, this device won't ask for a code for 30 days.
  • With Sign in with Google, there's no code, because Google has already confirmed your address.
  • With two-factor authentication switched on, there's no code by email. You use the code from your authenticator app.
