What is the community's username?

Community and core details

The username is your community's short name, for example @koeln-ehrenfeld. The Studio uses it in your community's address, which then ends in /studio/koeln-ehrenfeld, for example.

Rules

  • 3 to 48 characters
  • only lowercase letters, digits and hyphens
  • a letter or a digit at the beginning and at the end
  • each username exists only once

The field converts capital letters, umlauts (ä, ö, ü) and spaces as you type. This way, “Köln Ehrenfeld” becomes koeln-ehrenfeld.

Some words are reserved because the Studio uses them itself, for example neu, team or account. If you choose one of them, the Studio tells you that the username is reserved.

Choose the username

You choose the username in the first step of the registration. Below the field, you can see straight away whether it's available or already taken. If it's taken, the Studio suggests available names, for example with “-ev” or “-gemeinde” at the end. Clicking a suggestion applies it.

Change the username

  • Before approval, you change it in the registration assistant.
  • After a decline, it stays reserved for you as long as the registration exists.
  • After approval, it's one of the reviewed details. Only our team can change it then. For more, see Why can't I change the core details any more?.
