Can I get a payment receipt or a donation receipt?
For donorsIf your community offers it, the screen asks after the payment whether you'd like a donation receipt (Zuwendungsbestätigung). You then enter your details on your own phone and receive the receipt by email. Otherwise, your community issues it to you on request.
Request the donation receipt at the screen
- Step 1: After the payment, “Thank you for your donation” appears with the question “Would you like a donation receipt?”. Tap Yes, please.
- Step 2: The screen shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone.
- Step 3: Enter your name, your address and your email address and send the form.
Shortly afterwards, the receipt arrives by email as a PDF. You don't enter any details on the screen itself.
- The link is valid for 24 hours and can only be used once. If the screen shows a new code, only the newest one is valid.
- The page is available in German, Turkish and English. The receipt itself is always in German, as the official form requires.
- If the email hasn't arrived, open the link again and have it sent again, to the same address.
The payment receipt on the screen
If the screen doesn't ask about a donation receipt, it shows your “Payment receipt” as a QR code after “Thank you for your donation”. Scan it with your phone. SumUp's receipt then opens. If you'd like to keep it, scan the code while it's visible, or take a photo of the screen.
A donation receipt from your community
If the screen doesn't ask, contact your community. If it is a registered association (eingetragener Verein) or a charitable GmbH (gemeinnützige GmbH) with a tax exemption notice (Freistellungsbescheid) and has set up receipts in the Studio, it can issue one for you. For this, it needs:
- Your full name and your address. A card payment doesn't give the community a reliable address.
- Details that let it find your payment: the date, approximate time and amount, ideally with the payment receipt.
For several donations in one year, the community can issue you a combined donation receipt (Sammelbestätigung). SadaqaNow itself doesn't issue donation receipts.
Donations up to €300
For donations up to €300, you don't need a donation receipt. For the tax office (Finanzamt), your bank statement or credit card statement together with a document from the community is enough (§ 50 Abs. 4 EStDV). Ask your community for this document. On your bank statement, the donation usually appears with “SumUp” in front of the community's name.
