Who is the owner and how does ownership change hands?

Team and permissions

To begin with, the owner is whoever registered the community. The owner has all permissions, including billing and data export. This role can't simply be assigned. It only changes hands through a transfer. The transfer is confirmed with a code that goes to the community's contact email.

How a transfer works

  1. Step 1:
The person who is to take over is an active member of the community. Invite them beforehand if necessary.
  2. Step 2:
The owner opens Settings in the community's sidebar and goes to Ownership and leaving. There, they click Transfer next to Owner.
  3. Step 3:
Under Who takes over?, they choose the person, enter a Reason if they wish and click Start transfer. They then confirm once more with Start transfer.
  4. Step 4:
A confirmation code goes to the community's contact email, not to the person taking over.
  5. Step 5:
The person taking over opens the Communities page. Under Pending items, it says “… is to be transferred to you”. They click Enter code, enter the code and click Take over ownership.

With the confirmation, the subscription, payout account and all permissions are transferred. The previous owner stays in the team with the Admin role.

Good to know

  • For the transfer, the Studio requires a fresh sign-in. If your sign-in is older, it says “For security, the transfer needs a fresh sign-in.” In that case, click Sign in again.
  • Only an approved, active community can be transferred.
  • As long as you're the owner, you can't leave the community or delete your account.
  • If the owner can no longer be reached, write to us at info@sadaqa-now.de.

Every step of the transfer, with all the buttons, is explained in Transfer ownership to another person.
