What data is generated when someone donates at the screen?

Privacy and security

Anyone who donates at the screen doesn't need an account and doesn't give a name. SadaqaNow only learns what's needed for the donation and for reporting on it.

What SadaqaNow stores

  • Amount and currency
  • The time
  • The campaign and the screen
  • Whether the payment went through

You can see these details in your community's Reports.

The remark on a donation

At the screen, the donor can choose to leave a short remark. SadaqaNow stores it as the description of the payment and passes it on to SumUp. Details are in section 4 of our privacy policy, which is available in German only.

What SadaqaNow doesn't learn

The donor holds their card or smartphone to the SumUp terminal. Only SumUp, as the payment service provider, processes the card number and PIN. The money goes via your community's SumUp account.

Donation receipts

A card payment doesn't reveal a name or an address. If someone would like a donation receipt (Zuwendungsbestätigung), your community enters the person's name and address in the Studio. SadaqaNow stores these details together with the receipt. Only Owner and Finance manage donation receipts.

At the screen itself

While someone is donating or has just touched the screen, the screen doesn't take screenshots. This means no donation ends up in a screenshot. For more on this, see What do screenshots of the screens show, and how long are they kept?

What donors themselves should know is explained in Is my payment secure?
