Rename, reassign or unpair a card terminal
SumUp and card terminalsUnder Terminals, the card terminals you've paired for your community or imported from SumUp are shown in a list. Below it are the details of the selected card terminal, and the image shows it with its display. Clicking another card terminal in the list selects it. With Pair card terminal at the end of the list, you pair another one.
What the page shows
- The card terminal as a SumUp Solo. Its display shows what SumUp last reported: connection, battery, status and name.
- The status as reported by SumUp: Ready, Paired, Unreachable or Error.
- Below the device, the screen at which the card terminal accepts payments. If you're allowed to manage screens, clicking it opens that screen.
- Also Name, Status and Screen, and below them under Device, the model, Paired since and the ID at SumUp. Battery, Connection, Firmware and Last active appear there as soon as SumUp reports them.
With Import from SumUp at the top of the page, you fetch the current state of your card terminals from SumUp. The button next to the ID copies it in full, for example for a question to SumUp support. From six card terminals upwards, filters appear above the list, for example No screen and Issues.
Rename
- Step 1: Select the card terminal in the list.
- Step 2: Click the pencil next to Name.
- Step 3: Change the name and press Enter.
Assign to another screen
- Step 1: Select the card terminal in the list.
- Step 2: Under Screen, choose the new screen. Only screens that don't have a card terminal yet are available.
- Step 3: Choose No screen to remove the assignment.
The change takes effect immediately. If two card terminals are to swap screens, first set one of them to No screen.
Anyone who isn't allowed to assign card terminals sees the screen in the card terminal's details as read-only, with a note saying which role is missing. Find out more in Assign a card terminal to a screen.
Unpair
- Step 1: Select the card terminal in the list.
- Step 2: Click Unpair at the bottom and confirm the question “Unpair card terminal?” with Unpair.
The Studio also removes the assignment to the screen and takes the card terminal out of your SumUp account. If the card terminal is assigned to a screen, Unpair is missing for anyone who isn't allowed to assign card terminals.
If a payment is currently in progress at the card terminal, nothing can be changed. The Studio then reports that the change didn't go through. Wait until the payment is complete, and then try again.
