Register a community
Registration and reviewYou register a community in the Studio in five steps. We then review your details. You only pay after approval.
Before you start
- You have a SadaqaNow account and are signed in.
- You have the tax exemption notice (Freistellungsbescheid) to hand as a PDF or photo.
- You have time to go through it in one go. As soon as you complete the first step with Continue, a draft is created. Submit it within one hour, otherwise it will be deleted.
You'll find exactly what you need in What details and documents do I need for registration?.
How it works
- Step 1: Open the Studio and click New community. If you don't have a community yet, the button is called Register a community.
- Step 2: Community: Enter the community's name and a username, and choose the umbrella organisation. If the username is taken, the Studio suggests available names.
- Step 3: Legal details: Enter the legal name, legal form and tax number (Steuernummer). For a registered association (e. V.), also enter the register court (Registergericht) and register number (Registernummer). Upload the tax exemption notice.
- Step 4: Address: Enter the street, house number, postcode and town or city.
- Step 5: Contact: Check the contact email and enter a phone number. The email address is pre-filled with your account's address.
- Step 6: Summary: Check all your details. Change opens a step, and Save takes you back to the summary.
- Step 7: Click Submit registration.
Each step is saved when you click Continue. Back takes you back one step without losing anything. Meanwhile, the “How your community will appear” preview shows how your details will appear in the Studio and on donation receipts (Zuwendungsbestätigung).
What happens next
Once you've submitted, the Studio of your new community opens. It's blurred and shows “Under review”. We look over your details and promise you a response within 24 hours. We'll let you know our decision by email, sent to the community's contact email. The next steps are explained in What happens during the review?.
Common messages
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| This username is already taken. | Choose a different one or use one of the suggestions. |
| A community with this name and postcode is already registered. If it's yours, please ask its owner to invite you. | The legal name and postcode already belong to a registered community. The Studio highlights both fields. Check what you've entered. If it's your community, ask to be invited. |
| You already have registrations under review. | One person can have no more than three registrations under review at the same time. Wait until a decision has been made on one of them. |
Is your community already registered?
If someone else has already registered your community, don't register it a second time. If the legal name and postcode already belong to a registered community, the Studio tells you when you save. Instead, ask the owner to invite you to the team. To find out how to accept the invitation, see Accept an invitation.
