Add a screen
ScreensYou create a new screen in the Studio under Screens. The process has three steps: Name and location, Pair on the screen and Pair card terminal. Only after that does the screen show your template.
Before you start
- Your community has been activated, and its subscription is running.
- The device is switched on, connected to the internet and shows the SadaqaNow app's welcome page: “Gemeinsam mehr bewegen.” (Together we achieve more.)
- What else you need is explained in What do I need for a screen?
Step 1: Name and location
- Step 1: Open Screens in the Studio.
- Step 2: Click Add screen. If you don't have a screen yet, the process starts straight away.
- Step 3: Enter a name under Name, for example “Entrance”. Under Location, you can note where the device hangs. The location is optional.
- Step 4: Click Create screen.
If the screen isn't included in the basic package, the button shows the monthly price: Create for … a month. Next to it, you'll see “Billing starts today on a pro rata basis.”
Step 2: Pair on the screen
Once the screen is created, the Studio shows an eight-character pairing code. On the device, do the following:
- Step 1: Tap Los geht’s (Let's go).
- Step 2: Enter the code and tap Bildschirm verbinden (Connect screen).
The Studio notices by itself when the screen is connected and moves on to the next step. Help with error messages is in Pair a screen. For an additional screen, the code only appears once the payment is confirmed. See Why can't I see a pairing code?
Step 3: Pair card terminal
In the last step, the screen gets its card terminal.
- Choose a free card terminal and click Assign.
- Or choose Pair a new card terminal and enter the code from the card terminal's display. Then click Pair. The card terminal then belongs to this screen straight away.
If no SumUp account is connected yet, you'll first see Connect with SumUp there. As soon as the card terminal is assigned, tap Fortfahren (Continue) on the device. The display then starts.
Only people who may assign card terminals can complete this step: the owner, or anyone who has “Finance” together with “Admin” or “Screens”. For everyone else, the Studio shows at this point who can do it. Until then, the screen waits. The list also only shows card terminals that you paired yourself. If one is missing, read Why can't I see a card terminal in the list?
Continuing later
You don't have to do everything at once. Pair later takes you back to the Screens page. There, the screen shows which step is still open, for example “Step 2 of 3”. Continue setup picks up exactly where you left off.
If the subscription has ended
If your community's subscription has ended, screens can't be added or paired. This also applies to a screen whose setup is still open. In place of Add screen, you'll then see “The subscription has ended. Resume it to add or pair screens.” The owner will find the Resume subscription button there. More on this in Resume the subscription.
