Rename, reload or re-pair a screen
ScreensEvery screen has a detail view. You open it by clicking its image or name on the Screens page. Its details and the actions are next to the large image. In a narrow window, for example on a phone, they're below it.
Changing the name and location
- Step 1: Click the pencil next to Name or Location.
- Step 2: Change the text.
- Step 3: Press Enter or click the tick. Press Esc to cancel.
The name helps you and your team tell the screens apart, for example in Reports and in the history. It can't be empty.
What else the detail view shows
| Detail | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Status | Whether the screen is online, or since when it hasn't reported in, as on the Screens page. |
| Template | Which template the screen shows and whether it applies to all screens or only this one. |
| App | The version of the app on the device. |
| Uptime | How long the app has been running since it was last started. |
| Response time | How quickly the screen last responded. |
| Pairing | When the screen was paired. |
| Device | The device's model, Android version and resolution. |
| Card terminal | The assigned card terminal. Only people who may assign card terminals see this row. It only shows card terminals that you paired yourself. Otherwise, it says “None”. |
Below that is the availability for the last 24 hours. More on this in View the history and availability of screens.
Reloading the display
If a screen isn't showing what you expect, click Reload display. The screen then fetches its current display. The Studio shows “Reloading the display” and tells you that the screen will reload shortly if it's online.
Downloading content again
Every screen stores its content on the device so that it keeps running without internet: the template, its images, the prayer times for the next 30 days and the donation options. When you change something in the Studio, it fetches the new content by itself and deletes what it no longer needs.
If an image is still missing or the screen shows an old version, click Download content again. The screen then shows its loading screen, downloads everything again and then deletes old content. After a short while, the display starts again. The Studio shows “Downloading content again” and tells you that, if the screen is online, it's now downloading all content again and that this takes a moment.
- If someone is donating on the screen at that moment, it waits until the donation is complete.
- If the screen has no internet at that moment, everything stays as it is. It keeps showing what it showed before.
Re-pairing
Re-pair disconnects the screen from its current device and generates a new pairing code. You need this, for example, if you replace the device or if it shows the app's welcome page again.
- Step 1: Click Re-pair and confirm with Disconnect.
- Step 2: The Studio opens the process with the new code.
- Step 3: Enter the code on the device as described in Pair a screen.
- Step 4: When the device shows “Einrichtung abschließen.” (Complete setup.), tap Fortfahren (Continue). The device then downloads all content.
You can re-pair each screen at most three times. How many more times you can do it is shown below the buttons, for example “You can re-pair this screen twice more.” After that, the button is locked, and it says “This screen has already been re-paired 3 times. SadaqaNow support can approve further pairings.” A new code for a screen that's still waiting to be paired doesn't count.
If the subscription has ended
If your community's subscription has ended, the detail view looks different:
- Status shows “Switched off” with the note “Subscription ended”.
- Instead of the template, the large image shows “Dieser Bildschirm ist vorübergehend außer Betrieb.” (This screen is temporarily out of service.) Below it, you'll see which template will run again as soon as the subscription is resumed.
- Reload display and Re-pair aren't available then. In their place, you'll see “The subscription has ended. Resume it to add or pair screens.” The owner will find the Resume subscription button there. Everyone else reads “Only the owner can resume the subscription.”
- You can still change the name and location as usual, and screenshots are still possible.
Once the subscription is resumed, the screens start running again without needing to be paired again. More on this in Resume the subscription.
No longer using a screen
A screen you no longer need is cancelled by your community's owner. This isn't done in the detail view. To do it, open Settings › Billing and click Cancel in the Cancellation section.
- The screen keeps running until the end of the paid month and then switches off. After that, it disappears from the list under Screens.
- Until then, the Cancel page shows “Cancelled” and “Runs until” with the date next to it.
- You can't cancel the screen in the basic package on its own. It only ends with the subscription.
How to do this step by step is explained in Cancel a screen. If the whole subscription ends, all screens show “This screen is temporarily out of service. Donations are not possible here at the moment.” What you then see in the Studio is described above under “If the subscription has ended”. How to cancel the subscription is explained in Cancel the subscription.
